"What's in a name?" A sense of home, tradition, authority, and honor. Mikawa isn't just a name pinned on this Black Pine; Mikawa is the name of a very old province in Japan. When you bring this bonsai into your environment your not just adding it to the decor you are bringing in the essence of Mikawa (Japan). Trained in the 'informal upright' or curved trunk bonsai style with tired branching. Stiff dark green, short needles (3" - 5" long) and large grayish white terminal buds help distinguish it from other pines. Fissured bark on trunk and branches which appears on older specimens. Much sought after in Bonsai culture and taking many years to achieve the look of a superior specimen. The Mikawa likes sun and is hardy, keep outdoors.
