Known as the Andromeda this bonsai has beautiful white spring flowers each of which is set in a white calyx and together form a cascade of fragrant bells that bear a close resemblance to the blooms of Lily-of-the-Valley. Pieris was named after the Pierides or nine muses of Greek mythology. Japonica, is Latin for this species native home in Japan. Variegata, another Latin word referring to how the leaves are edged or patterned in a second color, especially white as well as green.
Superb narrow leaves emerge bronzed, change to chartreuse and eventually mature as dark green which remain through the winter. Excellent outdoor evergreen bonsai tree.
