Native to the Caribbean and parts of Florida. Not the edible Olive we know and love, but does produce a small, black seed-capsule. An evergreen tree with a smooth trunk and a very dense, full oval canopy. This delicate tree grows into a bonsai almost by itself. It is very salt tolerant, making it a good choice for bonsai lovers by the sea. The lush, dark bluish-green, leathery leaves can be over 2" long and clustered at branch tips, sometimes mixed with 1" long spines found along the branches. Loves the sun and heat. Do not expose to temps below 40F. It may throw some leaves during stress (like shipping or cool weather), but will recover easily.
Age: 12 yrs. old
Height: 10" - 12" tall
Note: Purchasing a humidity/drip tray is strongly recommended along with the purchase of your bonsai. They help to protect the surface(s) the bonsai is placed on and your bonsai's health.
